Program Details
The Certificate of Achievement in Sculpture Foundry prepares students for entry level work in artistic and commercial sculpture foundries, complements existing Fine Arts degrees for students hoping to transfer in sculpture, and prepares students to set up their own production studios to work as independent artists. Students learn the foundations of sculptural design and produce original work that demonstrates a high level of craft. Emphasis is placed on job-related skills, including mold making, chemical safety, and the casting process including gating, investing, burnout, casting, chasing, and patina.

- Assess professional career options in sculpture.
- Creatively apply the visual elements and principles of 3-D design to the formal applications of sculpture.
- Employ traditional and non-traditional finishes and presentation methods for cast bronze and aluminum sculpture.
- Independently demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge of the use and safety of materials, tools, equipment, and techniques of a variety of sculpture processes and specifically sculpture foundry.
- Produce sculptural works that demonstrate understanding of representational, abstract, non-objective, and conceptual imagery.
