A wellness coach recognizes that people have unique health and wellness needs. They help people reach their goals and implement lifestyle changes that improve their overall health and wellness within the dimensions of health. They work in a variety of settings from health clubs to corporations, virtual coaching to healthcare. This certificate prepares students to take an industry recognized health and wellness coaching exam.

- Apply professional health coach industry standards including legal guidelines and business considerations.
- Create plans to empower clients toward improved health and wellness by coaching them as they work to improve their nutrition, physical activity, and overall mindfulness.
- Define what the coaching experience entails, including the skills and methods for supporting lifestyle change, important considerations for the initial session, and how health coaches can help clients overcome barriers and manage setbacks.
- Evaluate client lifestyle factors driving a wide range of conditions, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes.
- Explain and describe the role and scope of practice of a health coach, including the core components of coaching, and how behavior-change models and theories apply to real-life clients.
